Convergent Publisher enables travel intermediaries such as Travel Agencies, tour operators and consolidators to sell their own specialized content to consumers (B2C) or other travel intermediaries (B2B).
Convergent Publisher is a contract management, a content management, an inventory management and publishing system all in one. The product is capable of handling air, hotel, car, cruise, tour, tourism, excursions, adventure and many other forms of content, including products, such as luggage. Best of all, it enables the user to sell these different types of content as single items or dynamically packaged together.
Convergent Publisher is designed to automatically publish its content to the rest of Convergentware’s technology such as Convergent Online and Convergent Professional.
Content can be harvested automatically from other systems such as the GDS or database applications. Manual entry is available for content that comes from a printout or even out of the user’s head. Content can be read from spreadsheets and the product has utilities that convert content stored in other database programs to Convergent Publisher format.
Convergent Publisher even has a built-in HTML editor that allows for the layout and formatting of content completely within the Convergent Publisher content administration window. This tool allows users to preview what their content will look like before publishing it to a B2B or B2C Web site environment.
Convergent Publisher is also supported in Convergentware’s Web services application programmer interface (API). This allows the Convergent Publisher to connect to other technologies such as booking engines or reservations interfaces providing these other technologies are capable of handling the richness and diversity of the content being supplied by Convergent Publisher.
Convergent Publisher is the underlying technology that allows Convergent Professional and Convergent Online to be fully customizable centralized reservations systems.
Convergent Publisher can be used as:
i) a consolidator fare contract management system,
ii) a tour operator content and inventory management system,
iii) a dynamic packaging system (i.e. combining tour content such as, but not limited to, air, hotel and airport transfers into a single product priced separately or as a single package),
iv) a merchandising solution (i.e. selling luggage online) and
v) an alternate content retail solution (i.e. selling excursions such as a day trip to explore Inca ruins).
Of course, Convergent Publisher also has a publishing component that gives the user the ability to display and distribute all of this content via an intermediary’s desktop or online Web site environment that either targets consumers directly (B2C) or other intermediaries such as Travel Agency retailers (B2B). Convergent Publisher is also a content aggregation system.
These days, most content suppliers (airlines, hotels, tour operators etc.), promote their content via their Web site. Often, a supplier will have their most updated and relevant content published to their Web site. It is the supplier’s primary point of contact with the world. This means that travel intermediaries must frequent these Web sites to gather this data... a manual and inefficient process.
Convergent Publisher overcomes this inefficiency by connecting to relevant supplier Web sites on behalf of travel intermediaries and capturing this content in such a manner so as to allow the content to be automatically searched, booked, ticketed and interfaced with a back-office accounting system. For greater flexibility, this content aggregation process is able to be scripted by the travel intermediary.

Globally, there are millions of different content suppliers selling a wide variety of products and services. Therefore it is impossible to have a single centralized reservations system (CRS) that is relevant to every travel intermediary.
Some intermediaries are focused on leisure, while others on corporate. Some book more in the GDS, while others more at supplier Web sites. Many manage and distribute their own specialized content. The only way a centralized reservations system (CRS) can be relevant to all travel intermediaries is if the power of managing content procurement and distribution is put into the hands of each and every travel intermediary.
